Gulai Lemak Ketam

... or Creamy Crab Curry. Nicked this recipe from my sister in law. Perfect for breaking fast! Especially when paired with turmeric-marinated fried fish and extra sour sambal belacan.

Very easy to make.

2-3 pieces flower crabs, halved and thoroughly cleaned
150ml - 200ml coconut milk
1 onion
3 fresh red chillies, deseeded
1cm turmeric slice
1 lemongrass, bruised
1 asam keping or garcinia atroviridis
Salt

Blend together or pound onion, chillies and turmeric.
Heat 1 tb oil in a pot.
Add the blended stuff and stir fry for a few minutes.
Add crab pieces and coat them well.
Add coconut milk, lemongrass and asam keping.
Let simmer for a few minutes and add salt to taste.

Note: Ensure that the gravy does not get to a rolling boil as it will become curdly-like. Just make sure crabs cook well slowly on low heat.
